Hey friends, I am trying to assemble a socket 370 build and am running into problems powering it on. Once in a while, it'll power on, but there's no VGA output. I get the startup beep and then after a few seconds it shuts down. It doesn't consistently power on, either...once every so often after pressing the power button a dozen times.

I tried two PSUs, one known working, so it isn't a PSU issue. I also tried two different CPUs, both exhibiting the same behavior. Is this just a faulty motherboard? I tried removing everything (all PCI, ISA, AGP cards, as well as floppy and IDE cables). Same behavior. So it's not something plugged into the motherboard. It has to be the mobo itself, right?

Is your board jumpered correctly for your CPU? Socket370 had an abundance of CPU models made for it. Some, need jumpered one way (Copper mine, et al), and some need jumpered another way (Tualatin, et al).

What is the model for this motherboard?

It's a Diamond DFI CA64-TC - https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/dfi-ca64-tc

It is jumpered correctly, I double and triple checked 😀 I think the mobo is just shot, whether it be bad caps or something else. The CPU socket looks in rough shape so who knows.

Give us a high res picture. We love looking at them. It's like where's Waldo but with caps. 😉
