x-com apoc on vista not working help plz

i was wondering if any one could help me. im trying to install my old copy of x-com on vista using dosbox and i can get it to install but when i go to run the program it kicks back a message "SHELL: redirect output to nul"
iv read every faq on here abut runnning x-com an no one has seen to have this problem

im using dosbox 0.72
toshiba labtop model satellite a215
processor amd turion 64 x2 mobile tech tl-64 2.20 ghz
ram 3070
32 bit op sys
avi radeon graphics card

Do you start the game with some BAT-file in DOSBox?

yes ive tried the xcom3.bat file of the xcomcdfix downlad and ive tried running the game with out the fix using just the xcomapoc.exe
recieve same error both ways

you mounted the cdrom as well ?
the game should work well as I recently helped with the release of it on steam and encountered no problems

Be sure to install the game from within dosbox as well.
