Okay, the replacement HDD appears to have eliminated the problem. Only restarted a few times, but it hasn't hung so far. Only issue I'm faced with now is getting Windows to recognise the HDD. The RAID controller sees it, but it's not showing in Explorer. I've tried re-applying the patch, but it says it's not needed or something. Or that it isn't supported. I've yet to try Ontrack 10. As well as uninstalling the patch and re-applying.

It’s okay now; I’ve sorted it, I think. I made the mistake of initialising and reformatting it on my main PC first, so I could send everything back onto it. I should have done it on the 98 system to begin with and used Ontrack 10 to set it up. Then hook it up to my main PC to transfer everything back.

Are you sure? I feel like you will need help again in about 5 minutes so I won't leave yet

Hahaha. You know me well. 😉 :p

But nope, all is good. It's recognised and everything I put back on there is present and accounted for. I'll try restarting the PC a few times just to see what happens, but I think the issue is resolved. 😀
