Hey friends,

I have a new to me ABIT VH6T motherboard, fully recapped, with a Tualatin 1.4ghz processor. I've tried multiple combinations of RAM and PCI cards. Right now all I have is an AGP GPU installed (I've tried two of these as well).

Everything seems fine booting from CD, I can get to the startup screen, then it does the initial "Windows 98 Setup" - "Setup is preparing the Windows 98 Setup Wizard, which will guide you through the rest of the setup process. Please wait."

It gets to 100% and then my mouse cursor changes to the hourglass. After that, nothing, no CD-ROM activity, nothing.

Things I've tried:

Copying the win98 CD contents to the C: drive and running setup from there
Running setup /p i
Running setup /iw

None of these seem to make a difference.

I've tried the Win98 quickinstall DVD but I can't get it to boot 🙁

Help appreciated, thanks.

Every time I've had this issue there was some underlying hardware problem. I would run Memtest 86 at this point.

Thanks. I got the Win98 quickinstall DVD to boot and installed from there and everything seems to be fine 😜 go figure. I appreciate it, I'll still run this as I think it's relevant. Cheers.
