I have a Leadtek GF 6600GT here that displays artifacts and ASCII characters right at boot—the card (not mine) was likely shorted due to being loosely seated in the slot, causing multiple contacts to touch.
It wasn’t displaying any image, and the AMS 1117 3.3V regulator was getting very hot—after replacing it, the image appeared, but with the artifacts described.

MATS reported the following:

Tested from 0 MB to 128 MB.

Full report is attached.

I don't really understand this; all I know is that the memory is showing read and write errors in all four chips.
So, does that mean the chips need to be replaced, or could something else be causing these errors (power supply, controller, etc.)? What else should or could I measure? I haven't been able to find a schematic anywhere.
Thank you for any advice and help.

Since it's showing errors on all VRAM chips, it's pretty safe to assume memory controller is damaged (since it's unlikely 2 VRAM chips got damaged and/or most of connections between GPU and VRAM).

1) Replace GPU, if it doesn't help
2) Replace all VRAM chips, if that still doesn't fix it
3) PCB is damaged and repair is too much work vs. just getting another 6600 GT
(you can give up at GPU stage or swap VRAM chips first - up to you).

Uh, thank you, so it is IC donor now - it is not so rare and I have not equipment for this kind of repair.
