Hi

I am the proud owner of a super-expensive, exclusive, unique, superb, many-epithet Steam license for Half-Life 1, but I can’t run it on WinXP 32-bit. On my main PC I downloaded the pre-anniversary update version in Steam and transferred its bytes to the retro PC. Is there any way to make it run?

Probably the easiest way is by using SmartSteamEmu. Take few minutes to read through and set few required parameters in SmartSteamEmu.ini, it needs some info about the game you're playing in order to work.

You can use builds before 6/2025. Assuming compatibility hasn't been fixed on newer builds since then.

For the SDL1 version you can use Revolution steam emu, it might work with the SDL2 version if not try SSE.
Line #2 and the switches should be all you need on XP
