I have a problem with the opti 82c930a soundcard. Every time I plug it in the isa slot. My scsi controller for the hdd is not working anymore and I get the message: "Host adapter diagnostic error. I think thats bc the scsi controller uses io adress 340 and the cd rom port on the opti 82c930a sound card use the same io adress.

I have no jumper to change io adress on the soundcard. I can only change it in software. But the problem is the scsi bios already boots before autoexec is loaded. I have a onboard adaptec aic-6260al scsi controller with its own adaptec s2 bios.

There is a jumper on the mainboard that changes io adress from 340 to 140 but this doesnt work. Every time i change the jumper to 140 I get the same host adapter diagnostic error and can boot into windows even when no soundcard is pluged in. I guess it doesnt work bc the adsptec scsi controller only work with the fixed io adress 340 in the scsi bios. But there is no way I can change it. I cant go into the bios with ctrl+a. I guess it have no bios settings I can change.

The only way it work is when plug in the sound card while the pc is on and after the adaptec bios is loaded. But after I turn off the pc and on again the same error happen again.

Is there still a way to fix this without buying another soundcard with jumpers?
