I just reverted to playing via soundblaster cause I cant stand the lame Sfx when using MT-32, the bow firing sound for example.

Did you use CM32L or plain MT-32? The SFX with CM32L is decent (significantly better than sound blaster) while with plain MT-32 the are all simulated with musical instruments so indeed lame.

So through reverse engineering the sound driver, I find all the SFX in the game are played through the midi device. The only thing that uses digitized samples is speech. This means both plain MT-32 and SB will play SFX using some sort of music instruments (FM instruments using the OPL2 chip in SB's case, which sounds pretty bad), while CM32L has some decent SFX it can play through MIDI messages.

I don't have an option for CM32L in my WOX setup. I was using the WOX CD as my install but I do have both the original games on floppy as well, are there different soundboard options in that version?

You just choose MT32 as the audio option, then use either a CM32L or compatible device (LAPC, CM64...), or MT32 emulator with CM32L rom.
