I'm trying to run the US retail version of Thief: The Dark Project on my Windows 98 machine equipped with SB Audigy and my question is does the game support "proper" 5.1 EAX? I have "Hardware Acceleration" selected in the options menu, but when I try to run a test, it only checks the left and right channel. During the actual gameplay the sound also seems to be stereo rather than surround. Is it supposed to be like this or am I doing something wrong? Maybe some patch I need to download? Other games like Max Payne run fine in 5.1.

Win98 rig: Athlon XP 2500+/512MB RAM/Gigabyte GA-7VT600/SB Audigy/GF FX5700/Voodoo2 12MB
WinXP rig: HP RP5800 - Pentium G850/2GB RAM/GF GT530 1GB
Amiga: A600/2MB RAM
PS3: Slim, CFW
PS2: Fat, FMCB
Dreamcast, GDEMU

The retail version of Thief: The Dark Project only supported A3D.

If memory serves, EAX support was added in the official patch 1.33, so you will need to download and apply that

Thanks Bro'seph, I'll try that! 😁

EDIT: I can confirm that patch 1.33 did the trick.
