I've randomly stumbled on two devices that I'm curious if anyone has any info about:
The first is a Maxell-branded Freecom parallel to IDE adapter. Judging by the markings on the chip inside, this is supported by Linux's parport driver with the "friq" sub-driver. (https://docs.kernel.org/admin-guide/blockdev/paride.html)
It has a DA-26 connector that I'd like to know the pinout for. There appear to be DOS, Win9x, Win2000, and WinXP drivers available here https://www.cdrom-drivers.com/companies/411.htm under filename "00001013.zip" (see also here https://www.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=85726)
There is a PDF from FreeCom that shows the adapter but with their own branding. The blue case, shape, cable, and everything is the same as the one I have in hand.
There are references to an LS120 drive and a CDROM drive. There was also a PCMCIA adapter/cable in addition to the parallel port adapter/cable.
The second device is an EXP CD Traveler 2020. This is a CDROM drive that originally came with a PCMCIA card. It also uses a DA-26 connector, unfortunately I didn't realized until I sat down to try it out that it's the same gender as the parallel port adapter above. I've opened it up and it uses a Oak Technologies OTI-911LP CDROM-IDE controller. I'm attaching pictures of the top and bottom of the connector-to-controller section of the interface board that clearly shows 16 traces going between the connector and the controller.
I haven't found the pinout of the OTI-911LP yet. It is supposed to be pin-compatible with the OTI-911.
Does anyone have pin out to:
1. Either version of these DA-26 connectors
2. The Oak Technologies OTI-911(LP)
3. The FreeCom Parallel-to-IDE ASIC
