Probably gonna be beat anyways, the X1950 I'm waiting on comes from Poland (via InPost, aka the slowest method possible) and as far as I tested, none of my T-Bred chips can come anywhere close to his.

Itll help your barton score tho.

I'm waiting for a X1950 Pro from Croatia. Probably about 3 weeks away 🙁 Looks like we'll be going head to head in the Barton chart.

I got the TT SOrb cooler today, and yes, I am going to have to make custom brackets for it.

I may just go ahead and do some runs with a 3850.

Isn't this a socket 370 bracket that comes with it? Ignore that, I was thinking of the water cooler kit.

As said before, doubt it at least in my case, which is why I consider my Barton score final from all perspectives.

- my only Barton that did 233 FSB no longer does that FSB speed stable (at all, even after replacing HDD.). It's also superlocked so even less desirable.
- the supposedly unlocked one (0331) CANNOT do any other FSB than stock. Not superlocked as multiplier indeed works past 12.5, but useless because any other FSBs than the stock 2500+/3200+ settings and it won't even POST 90% of the time.
- all Thoroughbred samples tested failed to do past 200FSB range. At first I thought it's a fluke, but when my 2200, 2000 and even 1800 T-Breds (2200 and 2000 TbredB, the 1800 is an TbredA I believe) exhibited the same outcome, I knew it wasn't the board but the CPUs unable to do past 200FSB (and on some, even 200FSB was problematic in itself). Semprons included with the mention that not a single one could do 200FSB at all, stopping either around 180-187. Zero stability in 3dMark though.
-Palomino, Morgan Spitfire and T-Bird all cap at 202-ish.

The only solutions are either a very good binned 3200+ or a XP-M higher than 2400/2500 (at least 2600 or 2800), but I am done with investing on Socket A.

All the above were done with multiple RAM pairs:
- Corsair XMS CMX512-3200XL
- Kingmax WNAS Hynix CTP-D43
- Samsung UCCC
- Samsung TCCC
- Qimonda DE-5

Any Barton can be converted to XP-M (with all multipliers unlocked, up to 24x) through the L5 & L6 bridge mods.
You do need a microscope, a mini-drill and a precise/fine cutting knife, though, so it’s not exactly easy to do.

I did it with my Duron 1400 with green package (Applebread core, basically TB with locked part of L2 cache) and it was enough just to connect bridges with some conductive paint.
Is it really different for Bartons?

Athlon XP CPUs that were manufactured past a certain date (I believe it’s something like week 30 / year 2003), have some smaller fake bridge pads that aren’t really connected to anything, while the real bridge pads are hidden under a pretty thick layer of conformal coating.

Yes, Athlons/Durons till 0339 I believe were unlocked.

My Duron was 0341 or 42 and unfortunatelly locked.
But only L1 bridges (multiplier related) and the ones for controlling an amount of L2 cache we're like you're saying "fake".

I was able do the so called "mobile mod" by connecting one of L5 bridges by just simple painting bridges with conductive paint and then I was able to control "mobile" multiplier via software after booting Windows.

That's why I'm asking if you had different experience with Bartons.

supercordo is going to be super disappointed with me but I couldn’t resist. Going to 3D print the fan mount (https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/suppo … n-reserator-1v2) to fit on top for day to day running and I have my ice cubes ready to get up close to the big boy score board 🤣🤣🤣

I mean I would buy one too if I found one decently priced. Be careful of the condensation.

I managed to get this one at a decent price. Yep condensation can happen in a second 😁

She’s beautiful. Fully functional with a ZM-WB4. Previous own used proper coolant so it’s in excellent condition. To me she’s a real collectors item. I’m a sucker for period correct stuff.

Sometimes you can come across old alphacool Nexxxos or aquacomputer cuplex waterblocks. I even designed and ordered a custom plate for my anfi tec soleil. All coolers are quite powerful on socket A, but basically any modern block with a make-shift diy bracket and some screws will work. Creativity is king

I was trying to look into the digitalbath BIOSes, and it looked like they were mods that different timings were being tested with. What exactly do they do different than say a trats BIOS?

Different FSB, dram and chipset timings. Trats is a great bios, but quite limited on the top end. I couldn’t pass 245Mhz FSB no matter what on my a7n8x. Up to that point the trats bios is quite fast and performs great. It also has Soft-L12 mod, so high fsb shouldn’t depend on the stock fsb of the cpu.

With other timings (namely ED or ED55) my board is able to run way past 245. it’s 3D stable at 263 with tight timings and 278 at 2.5-3-3.

Same applies for boards beside a7n8x: abit, DFI and the likes will also work great with either 619XT or ED based Romsips.

Is it cheating if you make your own DDR1?

Not cheating. Just use brainpower pcb's.

I don't think so. 😀
The combination of Winbond chips and the BP PCB didn't work for me. I used a different PCB instead.
