I dont know anything about doom3 specifics, never tested the game on v5, so cant help you there.

You can take an older version of the source, V0.6.1.0.9 has the first mentions od d3 work, and compare it to 6.2.0.1. (fxwgl, fxsetup, fxapi...)

Awesome thankyou a bunch! I will definitely do some comparison between 7.4 6.2 and 6.1. Should be able to track down the specifics and compile the best MesaFX for Doom3 yet.
