So I got my self an 250GB IDE HDD today. When running as a slave in an OS there are 3 partitions on it. When running it as a master and trying to install from floppy A drive MS-DOS 6.22 I get the following message

setup can not install MS-DOS 6.22 on your computer

An error was detected whilst trying to read or write to your hard drive

Sadly it dose not say what that error is. So anyone know where to start with this one please?

Thanks

MS-DOS 6.22 does not support Int 13h Extensions. It always uses CHS to access the drive. The maximum CHS values are 1023/255/63 which is what the 8.4GB limit is. Any attempt to access beyond that will either overflow or error out.

MS-DOS 6.22 does not support FAT32. If the primary partition is FAT32, it will not be able to access it.

If the primary partition is FAT16 (up to 2GB) but is not cylinder-aligned, it will not be able to access it.
