I have completed a new install of the game on Windows 11 with my new 4k monitors & the latest dgvoodoo2 (using forced 3840x2160). Neither install will run without a wrapper, so I use dgvoodoo2. I got everything working & looks good. I installed (2) versions of the game - (1) is a GoG install & (1) is installed from discs. The procedure is basically the same as I did on Windows 10. I still have to hack the deep6.exe with HxD to correct the crash that occurs with choosing spell school in both installs. This time I learned a bit more how to avoid the UI "smearing" aka "melting" effect - a) don't use dgvoodoo2's Antialiasing (MSA) b) don't use the games internal resolution choice of 1024 x 768. Either one of these causes the issue. I find it odd that the included 1024 resolution that came with the game does this. The ddraw.dll from GoG is not compatible with dgvoodoo2, so I had to replace it with the one for dgvoodoo2.
W&WGraphicsPatch:
The graphics patch was originally created to solve 2 issues: 1) correct an issue with Radeon cards not being able to run in D3D hardware mode, 2) to offer more internal resolution options. I am using an Nvidia card (RTX5070ti), but I wanted to give it a go to see if it would work. Also, with the GoG version, it is rumored that it is un-patchable due to something they did. So I tried the mod on both versions. I patched both installs with the graphic mod and choose 1280x1024. When I ran both installs of the game, I found that on the graphics tab there were still only 3 choices of internal resolution (640x480, 800x600, 10924x768). I also did not notice any improvements visually. There is however a noticeable difference when changing to the three choices in the games graphics tab., so if it truly worked - there should be a noticeable difference. There was not.
Is the conflict with Nvdia or dgvoodoo? Is there an Nvidia option out there?
