Thanks for letting me join. I have recently purchased a Tandon TM 7616 (286) . Firstly is it possible to swap out the dual bios chips with two that I rescued from a damaged 286 board. I can't seem to move around the menu in the bios now as the bios seems to crash. (Original bios). I've done it with an IBM 5170 and it worked fine.

Hard to tell without seeing both motherboards, but if they are based on discrete logic chipsets (chipsets with no chipset-specific configuration registers), then BIOS should be interchangeable. Though if your system crashes early on, then the problem must be hardware related, as corrupted BIOS wouldn't even allow system to POST due to checksum error.
