... The power supply works absolutely perfectly now. Getting the correct voltages on all the rails and it hasn't blown up ...

Excellent news, good job! 👍

Once alive that PSU looks like something Gordon Freeman would use at Black Mesa 😀 , reminds me of the Cherenkov effect.

Did you recap all the lytics inside the PSU, or just the two big bulk ones? Please tell us in detail what new caps, and in what spots, you used.

(For future reference: One day this info may help another Vogoner to resurrect his Logisys PS550AC).

I left all the 4.7uf/1uf/2.2uf caps since it's unlikely those would have any issues, I also decided to leave the big 680uf 200v filter caps after inspecting them closely. I did swap the 1000uf 10v 5VSB output filter cap with a 1500uf for good measure, and I replaced the second one with same specs as the original. Here is a full list of the caps I ordered from DigiKey:

^ Rubycon ZLG, ZLH & ZLS. Good stuff. 👍

So I guess the ZLH 16V 470uF went to the -12V spot, and the ZLG 10V 470uF 8x11.5mm went to the -5V spot?

They are often a PITA to recap, but the small caps are not unimportant just because they are tiny. Some of them are critical for the correct operation of the main switching transistors and +5VSB circuits.

I wouldn't place any trust on those ~20 year old "Asia-X" little turds ...

Yeah, that's where I put those caps
exactly. Still looking for an acrylic Logisys/Sunbeam case to pair with this power supply, so I'll probably replace the remaining AisaX caps (including the big filter ones) beforehand for good measure.
