Old PCs had these, and they looked like this.

A serial packet driver, or a serial terminal program, could use it like it was an oldschool serial modem.

It even supports the hayes AT command set.

Sorry that is not on my MB. I do however have a pink female 26 pin port, if I can do anything with that. I mean if they make one for that, that is?

Oh. I've used to use an old Windows utility for that: HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool
Supported MS-DOS 6.2, 7.x and FreeDOS I think.
Oddly, it only needed to be pointed to the DOS system files.
It already knew the bootloader code for these DOSes.

This was from a time before Rufus had existed, of course.
It was intended to have bootable USB pen drive with DOS for performing firmware upgrades etc.

Both happen to have a user folder simply called "a" Re: cant coppy onto floppy drive
Both are posting 800x600 screens from XP and have a Pentium 4 🤣

As i said on page 1, want to write some letters up (and JPG files too) save to USB stick and load them up in the library from USB stick then print them off

I do happen to have a copy of reulers and as i recall it is for burning to USB so as to boot from USB. I take it that this is what you want me to do with said file in question right, burn to usb then boot the usb stick in DOS???

I have just tried burning to USB with Ruflers,
Ruflers is for ISO. the file in question is a system type file. It dose not work!

Ok. But why use MS-DOS for that? You clearly have XP, which would support Microsoft Word for Windows for better features and compatibility with library computers (and also built-in USB support).

I know that there is a trend right now for distraction-free writing by using an offline basic computer. Is this your goal?
