Does anyone know if there's a particular driver version that's required for Coolbits? At the moment, I'm using Windows XP SP2 with a Geforce 6800 GT and driver version 77, I think...? It might have been one I downloaded somewhere else instead of on Phil's Computer Lab. At any rate, unlike on Windows 98, adding Coolbits via the registry file, it'll add the extra options, such as clock frequencies etc., but every time I restart the PC and re-load XP, the options have gone. And my overclock settings are reset to defaults. When I check the location of the registry file, the value is something like fffffffff. Or 1. Even setting it to 3, which unlocks them, on re-boot - reset again; back to 1. So clearly the Nvidia drivers are overriding it for some reason. I'm not sure if it's because of a specific Forceware version...? Or perhaps there's a bug with the one I have...? Has anyone else encountered this? Thanks.

OS: Windows 98 SE
CPU: Slot 1 Pentium III Coppermine 933MHz (SL448)
RAM: Kingston 256MB 133MHz
GPU: Nvidia 16MB Riva TNT/128MB Geforce 4 Ti 4200
Motherboard: ABit AB-BE6-II Intel 440BX
Sound Card: Sound Blaster Live Value CT4670

So I was using 77.72 before and now I've reinstalled the latest, which is 93.71. Same thing happens. Re-boot and the extra options are gone. I set the value to 3 in regedit, rebooted, and it's set it to 1.

Not sure, I've only ever messed around with Coolbits on Win9x. The easiest option would be to install Rivatuner 2.24c. This can automatically enable Coolbits. Some WHQL detonator/forceware drivers do not allow Coolbits but that probably isn't the issue. Finally, there is the Coolbits 2.0 registry file which might be required for the newer drivers: https://www.guru3d.com/download/forceware-coolbits-2/

Oh cool, thanks. I can’t quite remember what version of RivaTuner I have installed, but it could well be 2.24c. I’ll have to check and see if there’s a checkbox that needs enabling. I’m not sure what version of Coolbits I have, but hopefully it’s not 2.0. 🤞🏻

Alternative to RivaTuner would be PowerStrip, however both are capable of forcing an OC to run after reboot so if one works you should stick to it (DO NOT use both at the same time).

Yes, I have PowerStrip, too. It looks like I'll have to use one of them after all as I'm still not able to get Coolbits to behave.

Sadly, 2.0 does the same thing, which is a shame. Also, I've looked through RivaTuner Statistics and RivaTuner and haven't been able to find the Coolbits option.
