Think your old BIOS PC can't boot from an NVMe SSD? Think again. In this video I'll show you how to boot Windows from an NVMe SSD on legacy BIOS systems, even on hardware that predates NVMe itself.

The secret is the KittenLabs NVMe BIOS Option ROM, a tiny 22.5 KB bootloader based on iPXE that adds native NVMe boot support to almost any x86 PC with PCI Express. It can be deployed from a USB drive, floppy disk, CD-ROM, hard drive, or even flashed onto the Option ROM of a network card.

This worked for me to boot a BIOS based machine from an NVME drive. I loaded the option ROM from a 3COM 3C905 network card's EEPROM (since the machine I was using had no legacy PCI slots, I used a PCIE to PCI bridge, which worked fine).
