Hi all!

It's as the title says. I found one in near mint condition. Of course, original HDDs are not included.

I am going to reinstall the OEM Windows 7 Pro and need the original drivers and software that this unit came with, in accordance with the spec sheet.

Problem 1: Toshiba got rid of all its old model support when they changed to Dynabook. For most of the older models you get either nothing or a bluetooth driver and outdated Service Stations (servers were shut down years ago).

Problem 2: Archive.org does not have any kind of media for the X770 (or similar era platforms). Even the Wayback machine URL search brings up nothing -- at least for me.

Is there anyone here on VOGONS who has the original Recovery or Software DVDs that this unit came with and is willing to share an .ISO or put one up on archive.org?

I still have my X875 Qosmio drivers & software. Physical media did not come with the X875. Not sure about your model. I can dig them out if you want to try and use any of it.

Awesome! Thanks for the offer. In the donor rankings it actually has a pretty good spot.

X770/X775 → perfect
Satellite P750/P755/P770/P775 → closest contemporary donors
X875 → excellent one-generation-newer software donor

They have different chipsets (x770 = 2011 Sandy Bridge + HM65 and X875 = 2012 Ivy Bridge + HM76) and GPUs (GTX 560M vs GTX 670M), but...

That makes it a better donor than the x500.

By now I am basically re-creating the support system that Toshiba axed.

If you can create restore DVDs, or ISOs for them, that would be fantastic! Toshiba has its own restore creator software.

Just for the record, I am not after free OS copies. I already have legal copies of all OS versions I need for my restorations and use the OEM SLIC of the machines themselves to auto-activate those.

These disks/ISOs will not be used for restore/install operations. I use them to extract the original setup that the Toshibas had beyond the OS -- so only drivers and Toshiba model specific software/drivers.

Also, your original install most likely has a /TOSAPINS folder, possibly under a /TOSHIBA folder. The X305, R705, and R830 all do, so it is a part of the Toshiba eco system for that period.

That folder would be gold, as it usually contains all the individual OEM application/driver installers. A .zip of that folder would be awesome.

An image of the recovery partition would also be a great addition to saving the Qosimio legacy on archive.org.
