I don't think you could beat the PC speaker version for menace - the humble PC speaker had its moments.
Life? Don't talk to me about life.

Ah, true. Providing it's a properly installed cone speaker.

Guess. It's a tough one.

and I made it pixelated, cause vogons ^^
I drew this on my iPad and used it for awhile because it was easy to draw. It is computer geek that looks like the guy from

Roger Wilco from Space Quest. This particular pic is from the intro sequence of SQ3.
Space Quests 1 to 3 were the most memorable games on our first family PC. Many years later I learned about the existence of the MT-32, and I was floored by how SQ3 sounded compared to the PC speaker I had in the day. That sent me down the deep hole of retro builds.
Meet Chuih, one of SEGA's space mice from ChuChu Rocket (Dreamcast title) which I used to play a lot in my early teens 🤣

FUCK "AI". It is a tool of fascism. We do not need it. We do not use it.

You just gave me flashbacks to standing infront of the Tekker for several hours...

Due to the nature of my retro rig in sig.... my avatar is quite fitting as the OS of choice.
Pentium3 1400s/ Asus Tusl2-c / Kingston 512mb pc133 cl2 / WD 20gb 7200rpm / GeForce3 Ti-500 64mb / Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 SB0100 / 16x dvdrom / 3.5 Floppy / Enermax 420w / Win98se
Mine is just a ceramic Pentium 133 that I extracted from one of my old rigs to swap it out with a P233MMX (which I later found out that it might be a dud, I have terrible luck with computers).
At some point I may just change it... But I'm undecided on that matter.
Proud owner of a Shuttle HOT-555A 430VX motherboard and two wonderful retro laptops, namely a Compaq Armada 1700 [nonfunctional] and a HP Omnibook XE3-GC [fully working :p]
Mine is inspired by my previous avatar (half life lambda logo) for the orange E, and the rest is inspired by the IBM thinkpad logo because when I did it, I just had received my IBM thinkpad 380XD 😁

For some unfathomable reason IBM paid a fortune to use the Pink Panther character to promote their PC line in the early 90s. The sight of IBM lorries branded with the character driving past my house on the way to the local factory is etched into my childhood memory. Very odd. Apparently that marketing idea originated in the French branch.
I thought IBM was born with the world
I don't usually necro an old topic, but I think it makes more sense now than starting it new.
It's a crop of a page from the 1942 Spiegel Holiday Catalog.
There isn't a deep story behind it. I like old things in general and classic/vintage men's wear in particular. And I also think it being vintage fits this forum.
Mine is a reference to the book series 'The Wheel of Time' by Robert Jordan.
(Not to be confused with that abortion of the garbage TV show Amazon tried to force people to suffer through)
Specifically the name 'Jasin Natael' was an alias that a character used to hide his identity.
(technically it's an alias for an alias, the character was one of the Forsaken "Asmodean", his real name was basically unknown to anyone alive during the events of the books. With the exception of the other Forsaken)
Mine is from the meme, "What's All This Racket?". I used to watch anime and game a lot. Went cold turkey, just a reminder not to do that again...

The image shows the classic internet reaction face meme known as "What's All This Racket?" or "Mirada Fija".It is a high-contrast, black-and-white stylized drawing of an older man with wide, intense, angry eyes and a beard, conveying a penetrating, disapproving stare. The face is frequently used in rage comics and image macros to show extreme annoyance, fury, or a menacing warning when someone disturbs something belonging to the person.

Heh, not like I have any kind of authority over here but that's a cool necro in my book! 😁

Yeah...mine is Roger Wilco too, and very similar to Pierre32's avatar (not on purpose I swear!) from back in the days.... he eventually changed it to another Roger picture and I still feel bad about it 🙁
Funnily his post from 2020 could almost be mine. SQ1-3 are some are some of the best memories from our first family PC back in the days, with my brother and dad. And some day my dad came home with a newly purchased Sound Blaster 2.0, and the first time I heard SQ3 intro after months if not years of PC Speaker is still in my top10 core memories, it blew young me away.
I'm still a Sierra, and particularly a Space Quest megafan today.

This feels like the perfect post - I remember being very intrigued by your previous avatar a few years ago and never finding out where the character came from. Reading the first page of this post, looks like you're doing your own designs so maybe it was your own creation? I'd love to see it again just to refresh my memory, if you ever read this 😀

Not to watch anime and game a lot again or not to go cold turkey again?
Never paid for any piece of software. Lately not even hardware. Stopped my 486-P3 hoarding. Now just hoarding free XP-10 era stuff. And realizing that many boxes and even many laptops run XP and 7 and even Rufused up 11 if you just add a SSD, or it is a waiting game. Oh and most 8/10 laptops install 11 totally legally.
I am aroused about any X86 motherboard that has full functional ISA slot. I think i have problem. Not really into that original (Turbo) XT,286,386 and CGA/EGA stuff. So just a DOS nut.
PS. If I upload RAR, it is a 16-bit DOS RAR Version 2.50.
Athlon XP was the platform I enjoyed the most, hence the avatar.
