Interesting, since the wavetable card generates the audio and has an onboard DAC the SB16 is basically receiving the audio from the wavetable card like a line in cable. If it's purely noise that indicates the wavetable card is generating noise. Since no input MIDI data would cause that it means the wavetable card is not functioning correctly.

I wonder if it's a low voltage condition, are you able to check if the 12v power pins on the SB16 wavetable header is producing 12v?

Maybe using some contact cleaner in the ISA slot and pulugging in/out the card a few times will clear up any connectivity issues causing it

Hello all,

I recently changed the motherboard on my DOS 6.22 PC, and now my Serda X2GS isn't playing MIDI files correctly.

I'm using DOSMID to play a midi file, but it comes out as a screechy buzzy mess.

I'm using a SB16 CT1770 non-PNP card, and I wrote down the previous install's IRQ and DMA assignments, which seem to be working for both speakers in 8-bit and 16-bit sound.

Please help?

The program (or the install floppy) was corrupted, copying a fresh version made it work.
