Hi,
Like many of you I am sure, I have quite a few CF cards and SD cards used for booting my retro machines.
I used to use macrium reflect free to image them so I if I, say, broke windows 98 or was changing my hardware, I could easily revert back or create a second 'test' drive.
Macrium free is getting less windows 11 compatible and I have moved to linux.
I am looking for a tool to do the same thing -- dd is the obvious choice but it doesnt image only the used parts of the filesystem (eg if I am imaging a 120Gb IDE HDD with only 10Gb data, macrium will create an image that is about 10gb, dd creates a full 120Gb with only limited compression if I Gzip it).
Clonezilla requires loading into a live environment, which is a pain.
Can anyone recommend a tool that creates efficent disk images (bonus points if they can be mounted and browsed like in macrium) and will image boot sectors etc (so, for example if it is BeOS drive, or a multiboot drive etc, you can just restore it and it will work or restore onto another physical disk/card)
Thanks!
