Which post (either here, or on dosforum.de, or any other forum or site) contains the most up-to-date revision of your design?

Also, perhaps it would be better to publish it on GitHub, to keep track of revisions and allow collaboration on improving it further?

I'm joining with the same entreaty. What is the last version of this project, zip archive with PCB design and parts list files? This post vogons.org/viewtopic.php?p=405296#p405296 ? Is it fully working bug free version?
Because I saw another newer version, USB powered, DSS/Covox switched, here https://dosreloaded.de/forum/index.php?thread … 5059#post105059 What are differences?

Dreamblaster, if you happen to read this, please consider making a CVX5 which can be switched between Disney Sound Source mode, Covox Speech Thing mode and Stereo-On-1 mode. 🙂 Such a device would be really useful, since the DSS is supported in quite a few more games than the Covox Speech Thing! Such a device would sell quite well on Serdashop, and shouldn't be hard to make for a skilled retro hardware designer. The DSS is only slightly more complex, with its FIFO buffer.

You can load TEMU also and use some DSS Games and play Tandy 3 Voice Games too, for example Monkey Island works fine 😀

Most current Version are CD40105 Version as far as i know, there only minor differences, added Diode, USB Header..
i think latest is on Dosreloaded.de,

The latest tested and released version is indeed on dosreloaded based on shock__'s original design as well as matze79's revision. I was working on a version with integrated R2R-ladder DAC as well, albeit it is neither tested nor has it seen a public release (If anyone is interested sent me a PM). The most sophisticated version to this point is an unreleased prototype by shock__ with the afore mentioned covox/dss switch.

Attached you will find the latest release from the dosreloaded forum.

Btw, is there a way to change the Vogon's username? Or could some admin please change my name to Kanpai ?

Hi All! I think i have exactly this DSS emu plus a simple resistor based Covox... If i connect it directly to the LPT port, then it works well in Prince2, Wolf3D, Spear, Duke3D, etc... But if i connect it with an extension cable, many game still use it, but Duke3D refuses to detect the sound source device. If i start the game with directly connected adapter, then i remove and attach it via extension cable, then everything works ok - so it looks only the detection routine affected. Do You have experience and any recommendation, how to overcome it? I checked with 2 different cable, all 25 pins are connected to corresponding pin on other side. Is it possible to fix it? A pull up/down resistor or filter capacitor somewhere, or something similar? It would be great to use it via extension cable due to 2 reason: first, mini usb power inlet is placed in very wrong place on PCB - covered by neighboring connectors - and the second is i'm working on a "fully featured" external sound device with a serial-connected wavetable MIDI module with baudrate converter...

TL;DR : The Picovox is a parallel port sound device built around a Raspberry Pi Pico 2 (or the RP2350 microcontroller that it's based on), which can emulate a number of sound devices, including the Disney Sound Source. It is designed and developed by @jansakos. Both the hardware design and the firmware are open source. You can build one yourself or order a prebuilt one on Serdashop.
