RAD Tracker and EDLIB (Vibrants) are professional projects created by musicians — far beyond the scope of my own tracker project.
I had never imagined creating a tracker project, nor was it ever a goal of mine; it happened spontaneously, and I reached this stage after about 15 days of work.
I have no intention of competing with RAD or EDLIB. I am not a musician, nor do I aspire to be one; this is purely an amateur project.
I liked HSC musics, but the original HSC tracker didn't seem user-friendly to me. So, I focused on that and, with 15 days of effort,
brought my tracker code to this point. What struck me most about the original HSC Tracker was the workflow:
normally, when you press a key, you expect to hear the corresponding sound—like a piano—allowing you to compose by ear.
However, I felt it was difficult to succeed or create good music with the original tracker by relying solely on visual coding without hearing the sounds as you worked.
This observation sparked my curiosity about whether an alternative HSC tracker project might be viable, so I examined the limited HSC resources available to me and made progress.
I wanted to see how far I could take this on my own, and I’ve reached this point: a functional, HSC-compatible tracker project 😀
It’s a great achievement. I’ve realized and understood that writing a tracker is a truly difficult task;
I’ve come to appreciate the immense effort professional musician-programmers put into creating tools like RAD and EDLIB.
This is purely a hobby project, and it has really worn me out. A month ago, I was developing various tools for the *Doofus* platform game as a hobby,
but things got truly exhausting once I started the *hsc tracker* project. I’m mentally drained and need to rest; I’m tired of wrestling with debuggers, compiling code, and running tests.
After all, I don't get paid for these projects—they are just hobbies—and the workload became overwhelming as they grew and expanded.
I need to rest and take a break from the computer.
