So for the longest of time I thought this game in particular was incompatible under Windows XP, hence why if you go look at my past posts I built a Win98 time machine with a Core2Duo CPU.
Well I wound up going ahead with a 98/XP dual boot setup with the sole purpose of 98 being used for F1 CS2000 and a few Small Rocket games, here's the kicker though! I swapped the Radeon for a Quadro and well, the game was magically working under Windows XP which had me thinking "Maybe the game goes haywire and stops working if there's more than 512MB of VRAM present on the GPU?"
No, no absolutely not. I put a GTS250 I had laying around which has 1GB of VRAM and what do you know, F1CS2000 still works perfectly! So now I'm wondering if anyone running a GPU with 1.25GB and 1.5GB of VRAM on an XP build could test the game for me? I want to know how much VRAM can be present before the game starts crashing while loading the track, or just outright crashes while trying to boot. I know for a fact that under XP with a GTX680, the game simply crashed on boot.
I'm not a programmer or a coder, but it would still be nice to know how much VRAM can be present before the game starts misbehaving.
