Orchid Tiny Turbo Xtra. Anyone have one of these?

That's pretty unique. So that cable just plugs into the CPU socket and takes over ?
I got several, also other XT to 286 accelerators.
I have been wanting to get something like this for my old IBM PS2 Model 30 8086 system. Has the V30 cpu but would be neat to see it go further if possible.
I ponder the efforts it would take to make something new and similar? Not sure what stock piles of 286+ type CPUs are these days, but others have emulated CPU's with a Teensy 4.1 .
Could there ever be a Teensy 4.1 or similar driven CPU accelerator / upgrade card path? As these are hard to find and when found, very pricey.
I have seen such kit in the flesh, but never owned one.
IIRC, there was a 386 version as well.

I believe the Inboard clone could be modified to support an 8086 on the recieving end.
Nobody seems to have traced out the so called Inboard/AT
With a little more modern electronics unifying the Inboards into a universal solution might be possible (8088/8086/286) all supported by a single card

Would love to see a solution. FreddyV PicoMem + accelerator card 😀
If I could get my old Ps2 to run win 3.11, it would be nice to have.
There was some solutions that took the 8086/8088 up to "386" level .... I know bottleknecks and all that. Never going to be true 386 speeds... but having an old 8086 box do some 386 work would be great too.. along with a better math coprocessor in 286 or 386 configurations.
A boy can dream...
The MicroSoft Mach 10 was an 8086 upgrade, the MACH 20 was an 80286 upgrade.
Both were intended to make MS Windows run bearable on a PC/XT class computer with 4,77 MHz 8088 CPU.
Both had an InPort mouse interface, so two existing COM ports could remain functional.
The Mach 20 also had offered ordinary extended memory via add-on board (+an HD FDC).
That way, it could run OS/2 1.x just fine, but did provide little for Windows 2.x.
- The latter either needed EMS hardware or an 80386 CPU+Extended Memory to have applications access lots of RAM.
And only Windows/386 provided DOS VMs with full conventional memory each.

Possibility of this being created are greater than you think, all teh building blocks are already here, just need someone willing to put it all together.

RP2350 emulating whole 32bit x86 PC. Boots Win95 in ~3.5 minutes. Would probably run much faster with Video offloaded to dedicated ISA bus VGA card. Edit that was actually ESP32 386 emu this is based on https://hchunhui.github.io/tiny386/ no idea about RP2350 ones speed.

Edit: There are more and more retro projects involving forms of emulation.
At which point a build will stop being a real, natively running vintage PC and will become an emulator box?

Yeah, no one should overthink too much about this, just do what is fun to you.
Personally there certainly is a limit where I feel that there is a point where the vintage hardware aspect just isn't there anymore. For example, I have zero interest in installing a PiStorm to any of my Amigas. I just don't see a point in a setup where all the heavy lifting that normally is done by the CPU and chipset is replaced by an emulator on RPi and the original Amiga is more or less just an interface to that RPi based computer. To me, you might just use a pure RPi emulation at that point.
Yeah, no one should overthink too much about this, just do what is fun to you.
Not everyone is blessed with a simple mind, unfortunately. 😞
Some are wondering, keep asking themself questions. Are not comfortable with simple explanations.
They want to understand the true nature of the universe, among other things.

Oh that's also easy. It's 42.
🙂👍

I dont have one of those but I bought a PC XT many years ago and found a Breakthru 286 inside it.
