There is low information about Intel 3DR, early Matrox cards have some acceleration on them or not? One version of Matrox .3dr files calls special dll files. Also whats up with other 2D graphics, like ATi Mach32 atim3232.3dr and Mach64 atim6432.3dr, what they help vs generic .3dr file. If its only software accelerated, why to make s3, glint, matrox, ati versions of the files and why not use defualt one? What is latest version of Intel 3DR, is it version 2.1 or whats the best version to use? I have seen 2.0.x and 2.1, so there must be 1.x and maybe there is newer 3.x? What you think about Intel 3DR API demos and some games?

As 2D core is the same for Mach64 and 3D Rage so the ATi 3D Xperssion (Rage1) cards also supported Intel 3DR. https://kaisernet.org/library/1996/1196/11r10.htm

Afaik Daggerfall never supported any form of 3d acceleration, at this point XnGine was a pure soft engine.

Dropbox image links dead.

It boggles my mind to see all these cards with only a few games ever made for them. And they were wildly expensive. It was technology with no application.

I've been reading over this thread for a several days now, and I think my question is this:
Are there any exclusive games on this list worth putting one of these video cards into a computer for that can't otherwise be played with a GeForce or a Voodoo? If you had to choose one, which would it be? Does anyone have a computer or multiple computers that can play all of these early API games? How did you do it?

How you add all old api-is into one pc? With voodoo its possible to add three : agp card with its own exlusive api + addon card like pcx2 + voodoo1 or voodooo2 and thats probably it.

No. Those cards are completely useless.
The only thing that makes sense are their emulators that can make those games work in 4k resolution.

3d blaster cgl for hi octane and s3 virge for screamer and Terminal velocity.

Bad 3d cards but exclusivity for these 3 3d version about excellent games

all games you mentioned can probably be played on a geforce
terminal velocity has two native windows remasters (boosted edition and terminal fury)
i think you can play screamer (and also terminal velocity) in pcem with s3 virge emulator
hi-octane can probably be played in play station or sega emulator in 4k resolution
no need to have these cards.

No, hi octane, terminal velocity and screamer d'ont have 3d version directx, only excmlusive api.

terminal velocity boosted edition is not a remaster, it's a new release without 3d version support.

terminal velocity have next-gen port but I speak about original version that is the aim of lilylarcerny question.

Playing it in an emulator? What's the point? That's not what the question was asking. Otherwise, at this point, no game is unplayable on a modern PC with emulators, wrappers, VMs, etc.

You're completely missing the point.

If you'll follow robertmo3's logic then there is no need to have a retro computer as well. Everything can be played in DOSBOX or other emulators.

Regarding the question of all APIs into one PC. That I don't see as feasable. I guess the maximum would be:

1. Creative 3D Blaster PCI (CGL+Rendition)
2. Voodoo 1/2 (3DFX + Direct3D)
3. PowerVR (PowerSGL)
4. Paradise Tasmania 3D

All these could run independently and coexist and all be connnected together to one VGA output.
