To be honest I'm not sure if the i5-3470 machine has much of a chance. However, the 5800x3d should be much better. I'm realizing how heavy 86box is on the CPU though - it really stresses a single core of the CPU.

Thank you so much for the feedback and for looking into this!

Just a quick update from my end: I performed one final clean test using the new pcx-v0.2.1 standard release. I swapped the Matrox Mystique for an S3 Trio64V2/DX (4MB) on the Pentium 166 MMX setup under pure MS-DOS mode. Unfortunately, the behavior remained identical: flawless visual output, a solid 30 FPS counter, 100% host speed, but the game logic is still running in full slow-motion. Seeing that other users are reporting the exact same 0.5x speed dilation makes me think this is indeed a thread-scheduling or timing sync quirk with certain Windows host environments.

I will gladly leave my setups as a reference for future updates and I would love to be kept posted on any further developments or new builds!

On a side note, I manage an Italian retro-hardware Facebook group with over 9,000 members and a dedicated YouTube channel with 1,900 subscribers. Since our community is deeply passionate about early 3D accelerators, I would love to share your amazing work and this forum thread with them, as it could attract more passionate beta-testers. However, I wanted to ask for your permission first before sharing any links out there.

Thank you again to you and the author for this incredible project!

Please do! It's a public project. Obviously the main issue right now is performance but if you spot any rendering problems with a game please let me know. It's most important to me that this be accurate.

Speaking of performance, here's version 0.3. It's still demanding but it should run substantially better than previous versions: https://github.com/z2k-retro/86Box/releases/tag/pcx-v0.3

Wow, version 0.3 is absolutely incredible! You nailed the core issue perfectly.

I just tested the new pcx-v0.3 build on my Ryzen 7 5800X3D setup with both Tomb Raider 1 (DOS PowerSGL) and GLQuake (PowerVR patch). Everything is running beautifully now! The slow-motion effect is completely gone, the games are moving at their normal speed, and the audio stuttering has been entirely fixed. The bit-identical visual rendering looks absolutely amazing.

I want to say a huge thank you to the developer, z2k-retro, for being so incredibly receptive to the feedback and for putting out this game-changing update so fast. I also want to thank user Mattix23 for sharing his results, as confirming that others were experiencing the exact same 0.5x slowdown was crucial to identifying the bug.

As promised, now that the build is working flawlessly, I am going to write a dedicated post on my 9,000+ member Italian retro-hardware Facebook group to share this milestone. Furthermore, as soon as I finish benchmarking more titles on this new build, I will record a dedicated video on my YouTube channel to showcase this amazing PowerVR emulation project to my subscribers and give it the visibility it truly deserves.

Thank you again for your hard work and for keeping this project open to the community!

Wonderful! Looking forward to more feedback and squashing any bugs which appear.

Hello,
OMG what amazing developer are just working at this awesome project! In less than 24 hours, the bug is definitive gone.
I can only confirm what EF PC Vintage Planet has already written; Now Tomb Raider run flawless smooth.
With my poor old notebook i can play @640x480 with a Pentium 75 emulated and it runs at 30-35 fps. In this case, i don't know if is a bug or a locigal issue, at 1024x768 the video broken and it seems to have not synch with a half of the screen. This problem, when i emulate at least a Pentium 133, doesn't appear.

I wish to make some others tests in these days, for now i can only say a big THANK YOU
