BACK IN ACTION WITH A COSMIC CONUNDRUM
The Colony, originally released in August 1988 by David Alan Smith, is one of the first immersive simulation games ever created. A precursor to today's first-person shooters. It was one of the first games to allow the player to move freely, as well as jump in and out of vehicles, all while rendering graphics in real time. The game is a pioneer of environmental storytelling and won MacWorld Magazine's "Best Adventure Game of the Year" award.

A big thank you to our dear friends at ScummVM for helping us make this possible.

All three original versions of the game are included:
- Mac Monochrome
- Mac Color
- MS-DOS

All that for the low low price of FREE!

Time Travel: Escape Room Game (Legacy Games)

I just noticed a little banner at the top of the Legacy Games page that says they are closing and that you will be unable to download games after February 28th, 2027.

https://legacygames.com/news/an-important-upd … ice-of-closure/

You will still be able to play them if they are downloaded, but you won't be able to download them again after that date. I don't know if it's possible to download the games now and store them offline so you can play them later.

It seems like a lot of their games are just run of the mill hidden object games, but still... if you've collected a bunch from Amazon Luna\Prime-Gaming it kind of stinks to lose them all.

EDIT: Okay, this is promising. I just downloaded a few random games via the Legacy Games launcher and they don't seem to require the launcher to be running for them to work. I could run the .exes directly from the game folders. I haven't tried uninstalling the launcher completely, but it seems like you can probably download all your games, zip them up and keep them backed up somewhere. I'm not sure if they need any registry entries or other supporting files of course... it's possible that some games won't run after just being unzipped.

This kind of works, but there is a better way. See Shagittarius' post below.

You would be better off changing the download path in the app-state.json file to a non standard path, then when the install fails you will have the full install executable sitting in your new directory to archive. This way if there are any dependencies they will get installed on machines that have never had these games installed previously.

That's a much better idea. I just tried it and ended up with pretty normal looking .exe installers that seem to work fine without the Launcher running (though I have not tried them all).

Thanks for the tip. 😀

For anyone else who is looking, the app-state.json file is in 'C:\Users\*youraccount*\AppData\Roaming\legacy-games-launcher' (or just type %appdata% then open 'legacy-games-launcher').

(With this addressed I will let the thread get back on track. I figured 99% of the people on the forum who would care about Legacy Games are probably visiting this thread regularly and would want to know about them closing.)

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

you see this is why i never redeemed games from them or epic or steam or amazon. I want stress free games not to install bs launchers which may not exist tomorrow. I tolerate GOG because its stress free drm free games. If you cant open the launcher just use innoextract

I will no longer post Epic games here and after I do one last update of the games I will no longer play games from the Epic store.....the only one I bought was Control anyway. Good riddance. Time is valuable and the time I've wasted on their horrible launcher and their crap DRM can never be recovered.

Feel free to post their free games here if you want.
