If you think voltage is the cause, what happens when you run a 5 V CPU?
Plan your life wisely, you'll be dead before you know it.

Not tested yet, I was afk. I ll try a DX2-50 tomorrow
Strange fact anyway.
When I plug off SRAM, POST displays "WRITE BACK CACHE" : normal, it is a PCChips 😀
When I plug on SRAM, POST displays "256 K MEMORY CACHE" : something happens... BUT benches are clear : no L2 cache
5V CPU test coming this evening...
The store I bought SRAM is sending me a "new" 3.3V one...
To be continued.
Not sure if any of this is relevant, but here's more detail on my experinece...
If you are using 64 MB of DRAM and BIOS version 9190914S or 9191016S, your benchmarks won't show improvement. There's some bug with these versions when using 64 MB DRAM. if you are using those versions, use 32 MB of DRAM. Otherwise, BIOS 9190506 has no bug with 64 MB.
My cache stick with Alliance AS7C256-15JC chips was the best of my three 256K modules. I know I've used it fine with 3.3 V CPUs, but I think the CPUs were on interposer boards.
I have one M919 v3.4 for which I need to move the cache module in and out of the slot a few times before the cache is recognised.

Thanks for all those precious informations.
My tests was with 72pin fpm modules : 1x4MB, 1x8, 1x32, 1x64, 2x64 =》;) not tester with edo.
Indeed, cpu with interposer can be the solution, because interposer works at 5V, sto.
I have bios rom for a dead m919 1.5, can it work with 3.4?
Hello.
I have tested an i486DX33 for 5V.
Same problem...
Maybe COAST module is dead after all...
New SRAM will be @home tomorrow 😀
Spare part for seller was received midday.
The new SRAM module is 3.3V.
And works in one shot.
I supposed the previous COAST was DOA.
You could try to reflow the solder joints on the old module to see if it comes back to life.
How much are these 256K modules selling for these days?
Plan your life wisely, you'll be dead before you know it.
I have to return dead module in warranty as it, so no reflow 😀
on ebay, 50/60€
on RAM-Co shop, 20€ inc. postage.
You can also find custom-made 1024 KB cache modules for about 100€+
