An Asus P4T-F with a 1.6 Willamette and 2x128 MiB RDRAM and C-RIMMs for a reasonable price 😀

Unusual arrangement of the RIMM sockets on that board. I wonder why they arranged them like that.

Hehe, take a look at the MSI 850 Pro2. 😆

Even stranger.
Can you imagine the tracks required to do that!
There must have been a reason for it.

thats the beauty of RDRAM, only ~18 pins total

.96 is the rough "constant" you want.

3*.96 = 2.88

Well, it's actually divided by 1.024^2

As in 3 gb/1024^2 = 2.861 gigabyte

Because hard disk manufacturers use 1000 byte as a megabyte and 1000 megabyte as a gigabyte (and again 1000 gigabyte as a terabyte) rather than the actual 1024.

If it's dual it's kind of cool ... 😎

--- GA586DX --- P2B-DS --- BP6 ---

Please use the "quote" option if asking questions to what I write - it will really up the chances of me noticing 😀

Yeah that makes it slightly less complicated but even then it seems like a very strange design choice.

I cant imagine they started out with the idea that they wanted to mount one of the sticks of RAM perpendicular to the others ...

I mean back then the astetics didnt matter as much as they do now sure, but they still had a design they followed. Especially MSI.
MSI were just about the first to design "a look" into their montherboards and PCBs in general really. Even if it was a basic like colour solder mask

6000 to go!

I built:
Convert old ASUS ASC boardviews to KICAD PCB!
Re: A comprehensive guide to install and play MechWarrior 2 on new versions on Windows.
Dos+Windows 3.11+tcp+vbe_svga auto-install iso template
Script to backup Win9x\ME drivers from a working install

I fell into a cryogenic sleep on page 2000.
I just woke up here on 3000.
Now I gotta do what I gotta do... read the all 1000 pages I missed.

6000 to go!

From 2007 to 2026
6000 pages is roughly 40 years. Say 30 because we are many more than 2007.
If I'm still alive at page 9000.............. "Loading failed, rewind and press play"

PC#1 Pentium 233 MMX - 98SE
PC#2 PIII-1Ghz - 98SE/W2K

- "One hates the specialty unobtainium parts, the other laughs in greed listing them under a ridiculous price" - kotel studios
- Bare metal ist krieg.

Yes, but it'll be worth it to whoever screams "OVER 9000!" when that day comes

I guess I changed my display settings at some point because this is page 3040 for me. Sorry. 😋

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

Nice! Will you be opening the Ti 200 or leaving it sealed?

Being a mod you are seeing a count that has all the hidden posts we cant see and don't count for us 😜

I'll definitely test it out just to make sure. It makes me feel better knowing I have a spare, then I'll use a Pixelview Ti 200 in a beige build.

We were cutting holes in the beige boxes around then, stuff was getting too hot. So don't be thinking a 98 case is real good for it plus enough CPU to give it a workout.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

I'm always conflicted about sealed/brand new vintage parts.

On the one hand, my instinct is to preserve it; leave it in the box just as it was placed there decades ago, pristine; kinda like a time capsule.

But on the other, it's fitting that this hardware should finally be used after all these years dormant, and I always get a small buzz out of such things. LGR opened a brand new Pentium Overdrive, and seeing it fire up for the first time, fresh as the day it was made, is very cool.

Please do share pictures and feedback when you've got it working!

VisionTek is still around—I wonder how that “lifetime warranty” works? 😀

It's going in a Packard Bell mATX case with a Kontron Pentium M motherboard.
