Screamer finally gets Voodoo 3 support!

This game never had any 3DFX patch, it's now a thing !
As many remember only Screamer 2 & Rally had a 3DFX patch.

This new exe allow to launch Screamer on Pure MS-DOS using your real 3DFX Voodoo 3 GPU !
Full GPU acceleration, expect 50-60 fps along with a decent CPU (from Pentium II 233Mhz).

1) Copy and replace STARTH.EXE and STARTL.EXE to game folder
2) Make sure to use XMS Memory under Pure DOS
3) Run STARTH.EXE the game will use your Voodoo3 for all 3D rendering.

You can test on the Voodoo 2 and banshee (as the API i'm using is based on the Glide 2.X) but i doubt that it could works.
For Rush, Voodoo 3, Voodoo 4, Voodoo 5 they will works fine.
But Voodoo 1 no.

I only own a Voodoo 3 that's why i'm doing all thoses patchs for this card.

Next patch coming is Duke Nukem 3D for Voodoo 3 😀.

Have you tested with voodoo 3 car emulated in pcem ?

I would like to play screamer in 3d acceleration but at this time only s3 virge can have this version.

If you can to have a 3dfx version of hi octane it would be amazing.

I've tested on emulation and on real hardware with a Voodoo 3 yes.

I will test every voodoo3 patch you make 😀

I went out of my way to buy a voodoo2 for DOS compatibility but in a while, maybe that is no longer necessary

A Voodoo 2 is still a great option when paired with very powerful cards, such as an nVIDIA GeForce 4 Ti.
This way you get the best of both worlds: high quality, resolution and framerates for most OpenGL and Direct3D titles using the nVIDIA card + Glide compatibility (and also better compatibility with some of the older, more problematic Direct3D titles) with the Voodoo 2.

That was going to be my next test, a voodoo3 AGP vs Voodoo2 PCI + Geforce 2 AGP on an SS7 to see which is the better overall exprience. But the Voodoo2 I bought has some damage and I sent it for repair so it will have to wait.

Statically linked or dynamically? The latter allows us to test different glide2x.ovl's

The patch seems to work fine on my system, the only visual glitch I can report is that the track occasionally has small gaps between polygons that is not present on the software SVGA renderer

voodoo 2 sli is out of reach now. not paying close to £400 for a pair of cards. I've had a voodoo 2 flake on me before
