The SK-88 Pro sub-program ROM has been added to the website. (The main program appears to be the final version of the SC-88 Pro ROM, but it is soldered onto the motherboard and cannot currently be desoldered.) Using the existing SC-88 Pro ROM might work, though it could potentially cause issues.
Additionally, the upcoming SD-80/SD-90 ROMs have been added (though the SD-90 main program ROM was not yet included at the time the screenshot was taken).

Nice.
I hope SC-D70 will follow sooner or later.

88emu uses that rom for it, so pretty sure it's the same one.

So far, no one has dumped the contents of any ROM beyond the patch itself, including TUS. The entry in 88emu is still considered unverified.

I've been lurking and watching this thread out of interest since the SC-88 is pretty nice but, excuse me, the SD-80 and SD-90? Woah, that's XV chip territory. Does that mean there's a chance for 88EmuPlayer to support that as well? The status of those devices is somewhat mythical within a few communities (Particularly the Pokemon and Touhou ones, but mostly the Touhou ones) and also because it has never been emulated before. It also has a few sounds that no other Roland module has either.

If you happen to have any information on that do tell me, because this sounds quite exciting!

The SD-80 and XV-5080 are already capable of producing sound, but as giulioz has not yet finished working on them, they have not been made public. Once completed, they will be released.

They can make sound!? Ok yeah I wasn't expecting this so soon after the release of the SC88 family emulator. Really looking forward to it then 😁

I just want to mention how insane the realm of open-source emulation is now. With those two (the SD80/90 and the XV-5080 with all expansion cards and the Yamaha MU2000 (w/expansion boards too)) you would have a setup that could last you a lifetime if needed as a VGM composer. Exciting times ahead!

Now we have SCB-55/RLP-3237 internal ROM published and it looks like it's a BAD_DUMP speaking MAME terms - because its last 920 bytes (7C68-8000) resemble a few instruments definitions from a SC-55 series program (!) ROM.
Once the extreme definitions are incomplete and no other SC-55 series internal ROM contains its program ROM data, I believe that's an editing error probably overlapping R15199827 and R15209486 ROM images.

So please recheck and redump if it's really an error.

I rarely see the sc-50 mentioned, if at all. Is it unnecessary? Still, in the spirit of preservation, it seems to have never been dumped.

SC-50 is an sc55mkII without the mt32 patches, and the front midi input missing. it's worthless from an emulation standpoint.

in case you own a supported device (and I own many of them), are there any howto guides how to dump the necessary binary firmware files? I presume things like "sc8820_internal.bin" are the dump of the MCU - are those MCUs really dumped or "re-created", because here in this thread was mentioned MAME discussion about actually recreation and that those MCUs were not actually dumped. is there any table or documentation that says what can be dumped, what cannot and it's recreated, etc.

I disagree it's BAD_DUMP, because those work in Nuked-SC55, i.e. they are good no matter how they look. however, the overlap you're describing, while I can see it, I see it in almost all variants of Roland SC-55 devices internal ROM dumps - they cannot all be corrupted (presuming done by different people using different hardware) and at the same time working in the Nuked-SC55. so, that overlap maybe is something Roland did in their factory...

An MCU is a processor, it is hardware. It cannot be dumped, the MCU is emulated in Nuked-SC55, Nuked-SC55 pretends to be an MCU (More then one: H8/532 + M37450M). It is the fixed firmware (software) that is dumped.

I mean dumping the ROM of an MCU by my shorten expression of "dumping an MCU" - are you saying "sc8820_internal.bin" is not supposed to be the ROM of the MCU inside 8820 and it's supposed to be something else? in any way, that doesn't give an answer at all to my question - if you own those supported devices how to prepare the necessary binary files to use them with the emulator.

yeah, some roms around are just reconstructions done with LLMs

I see, but are there anywhere documented how to prepare the other necessary binary files - for example SC-55 compatible devices I can dump in just a few minutes using:

https://github.com/shingo45endo/sc55-mcudump-patches

other similar project like S-MU2000 provide several ways - including simple web-based interface:

https://shingo45endo.github.io/mu-wave-romdumper/

yet for this particular project at least I cannot find how to prepare the files, even that I own many of the supported devices. I don't mind even if it's necessary to open the device and do some dumps in hardware with a chip programmer. so, my problem is that I am lost and I cannot find anywhere documented, which binary file how it's supposed to be prepare by a device owner.

None of the links you mentioned are from the emulator creators. If no one yet created a tool like that, you are unfortunately on your own.

I expect nothing less and to be on my own when it comes to creating binary dumps from devices I own - it's always that way for legal reasons. however, what I don't expect is the project documentation to not mention (absolutely) nothing on the subject as far as I can tell (maybe I cannot find it where it's buried in the READMEs, source code, etc). I mean do I expect too much from the documentation and to say at least something like "to prepare xyz.bin desolder that and that IC and read it with a chip programmer" or something like that at least, for example table that matches each binary file to the IC number of the PCB? I don't know, it's to say the least confusing and IMHO it will only stimulate that way piracy, i. e. illegal distribution of those files, when device owners like me, even if they want, don't know from where to start preparing the files by themselves, because there are no any clues documented.

For the SC-88/88pro, dumping the socketed eprom is enough
For the SC-8820 and SC-8850 you will need to load a firmware upgrade that dumps the internal roms and the wave rom. It works only though on early units that don't use mask rom. For the late ones without the updater you'll probably need to do some microsoldering.
