I think many remember the unique DOS module player LMP v0.9 by Lada Kopecky that worked exclusively with SB Live! cards and used the card's hardware features like 8-point interpolation, Bass/Treble and Reverb/Chorus DSP effects.
LMP was released as freeware but without source code. So adding later Creative cards could not be achieved easily and it never happened.
But based on AI assisted works like this Windows 3.1 Audigy driver
Re: HDA Audio driver for Windows 3.1x
a patch could be written to add support for the original Audigy, Audigy 2/ZS and most likely Audigy 4 Pro (not tested, but it has the same PCI id, revision and hardware as Audigy 2 ZS).
Thanks to @Zyzzle for recommending a tool that successfully could unpack the original PKLite packed LMP.EXE
Re: NeoPaint 3.2d in 16M colors using VESA
So here is the package:
It contains:
All the original files +
LMPSBL.EXE - SB Live, with the IT playback fix described below.
LMPAUD1.EXE - Audigy 1.
LMPAUD2.EXE - Audigy 2 / Audigy 2 ZS.
Use the executable matching your card with the original runtime files and
LMP.INI. See LMP.TXT for general usage.
Features and fixes:
- Adds Audigy 1 and Audigy 2/ZS playback, retaining hardware mixing and
interpolation, filters, reverb, chorus and the original player controls.
- Adapts output routing, panning, surround levels and reverb to Audigy
hardware.
- All three executables fix IT combined vibrato/fine volume slides (Kxx),
correcting missing fades such as the lead guitars at the end of IMP1.IT.
- Audigy 2 output gain (LMPAUD2.EXE only):
-ag0 Default: no additional gain.
-ag6 Adds 6 dB.
-ag12 Adds 12 dB (maximum).
Add the option to LMP.INI or the command line. Higher gain may cause clipping.
