These Powerleap PL-iP3/T unicorns have seen better days. But I got them without losing a kidney.

3000 pages and still going strong 😉

3000 pages of posts about our amazing hardware finds !
Little treasurs that we couldn't buy back then because they were too expensive (some still are) and now in a midst of revenge and nostalgia we finaly get our paws on "that" special card ! 😀

Our comunity is awesome !

I guess I changed my display settings at some point because this is page 3040 for me. Sorry. 😋

Being a mod you are seeing a count that has all the hidden posts we cant see and don't count for us 😜

Ah! That's it! 🤣

Say, 40 pages of deleted posts isn't bad spread out over nearly 61,000 posts spanning almost 20 years. 😅

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

We were cutting holes in the beige boxes around then, stuff was getting too hot. So don't be thinking a 98 case is real good for it plus enough CPU to give it a workout.

Big beige boxes in 1998 had sufficient case cooling, it was just intended for HDDs rather than CPU/GPU.

Those look like high end workstation cases rather than what you could get in your local computer store for under $100.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

Top of the line, but IIRC the cost was £30-£60.

I searched for the lowest prices. I had one new case for only £10 - my first desktop case, which I bought after discovering my mini tower saved space when positioned on its side and the monitor placed on top 😉

Yeah timing was the thing, mid noughts was golden era for cheap cases, I got one for $10 CDN new back then, it was cheap quality, but I've seen HP and Dell do worse since, so I wish I had bought a dozen of them. Back in about 92-93, was really hard to find one for much less than 50 quid in UK

A stinky SK41G w/ the worst damp basement funk. gutted it, removed duest, IPA swab cleaned like crazy removed front panel cables. cleaned fins with soapy water and ipa + brushed cheaned, ipa the aluminium parts too. waiting for an FSP270-60LE and ARCTIC P8 Max from amazon... The case is in good condition, caps are good and stable, just the funk in the room. so had to power down and go awol on stinky plastics. im sensitive to mould spores 🤮
only the front panel power cable remains as the other cables + stinky psu had a smell to them that spread through the room. bagged a lot things like the usb panel connectors (3 off), parallel cable, ide cables (2 off), stinky 80mm fan, stinky psu, stinky dvd drive and put them in the original box sealed shut. smell has almost disappeared. new fans and psu will make this a main retro pc that doesnt stink up the room with mould spores
public announcement to hoarders, cling film wrap your stuff plz

At just shy of $50 shipped, I couldn't help but pull the trigger on a PODP5V not knowing whether it's a 63 or 83 MHz. If it's a 63, it's an addition to my collection, if it's 83, hopefully it'll run @100, which my current PODP5V83 doesn't, and then I'll probably flip one of them ...

If it's dual it's kind of cool ... 😎

You can easily mod the 83mhz to run at 100Mhz.

Purchased one of these to complete my NLE workstation, but I had not seen one before. Do you know what it is?

I got a new motherboard working today! I made a post recently about being indecisive, but then eventually went and decided to buy a https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/ford-l … -m1543c-variant. When I got it a bunch of caps were basically falling off the board, but I was able to get someone to solder on some new ones and now it's up and running. The board seller threw in a mystery AGP video card which turned out to be an Nvidia Vanta which is apparently the budget version of the TNT2 but that'll do just fine for now. I'm running a Pentium MMX200 overclocked to 250mhz now but I'm also waiting on the delivery of a K6-2 500mhz which will be interesting to see running. I never interacted with any non-Intel CPUs back before like the original Athlon series.

Looks like some form of high quality digitiser, but if it's not a scope card or signal processing, it has to be something to do with video???

Nice, that's a low key super7 to look out for. If you have to flash the BIOS some time, the Red Fox logo is way cooler, just saying 🤣

It is an ESI Juli@ "4-in/4-out PCI Audio Interface with Swappable I/O Socket"
