Hi!

two years later you finally obtain an answer 😁.

I've encountered a very similar issue with Scorched Planet on modern systems. The game can freeze when clicking the "Go" button, regardless of whether you're using nGlide or dgVoodoo2.

After investigating the original game executable, I discovered a bug in its fade transition routine. On modern systems, a floating-point precision issue can prevent a transition from completing, leaving the game stuck in an endless loop.

I've developed an open-source tool called ScorchedPlanetFix that addresses this issue directly in the game's executable.

It provides:

FadeLow fix: prevents the game from getting stuck during fade transitions.

No-CD fix: fixes the original CD detection issue.

Modern installer: installs the game directly from an original ISO or CUE/BIN image, bypassing the outdated Windows 95 installer.

Support for all three 3dfx editions: US, European EN/ES/IT, and European FR/DE.

The actual FadeLow fix requires changing only 4 bytes in the original executable!

Tested with success on Windows and Linux/Wine.

Latest release available on Github project page: https://github.com/legluondunet/ScorchedPlanetFix
