Mmm... I did try to import one of my packages, used the wrong option, I think, because I tried to import from ZIP.

I'll try that other option later.

EDIT: Tried to import one of my DBGL game packages, but I got in trouble. I'm attaching captures, sorry they're in Spanish:

8aSIkbC.png

At first everything seems fine.

But then:

yDb6hFM.png

The error message says "Couldn't copy etc. etc."

The "games" (demos actually) then appear in the main window, but they don't work. At launch DOSBox Staging complains no C drive has been set up.

On purpose I tried a package that has only demos, not a single game that could be copyrighted. So if you want to, I can upload it somewhere for testing purposes.

EDIT 2: I've also downloaded one of the free game packages from Ronald's website (the Apogee shareware one) and it does work correctly. So maybe the issue is version related?

Oh, and a question, although this other pack worked flawlessly, I don't see a DOSROOT folder on my DFendX installation. Where are the games installed to? Is the installation portable?

Hi, please upload non copyrighted examples to a github issue ticket and I will investigate. Thanks

I have fixed this issue, it will be in the next release. I was able to import several demos from "La Colección [Ac. Agosto 2025] - Demos.dbgl.zip" successfully.

Games are installed in the "Game folder" path in Program Settings\General\Directories. The default is:

"C:\Users\<username>\DFendX\VirtualHD\"

But you can change that.

If you download the portable installer or ZIP file, you can have a self-container portable installation with DFendX, games and profiles in one dir.

Hi, the folder error is finally fixed!

I'll give you visual examples of both errors mentioned above.

1) Here's a screenshot of my game list in cover art view with the scroll bar at the very top.

The attachment top.jpg is no longer available

And here it is after just a slight scroll of the mouse wheel.

The attachment after.jpg is no longer available

As you can see, the jump is huge and makes navigating and selecting games a bit difficult.

2) A view of my entire game collection in cover art style.

The attachment all.jpg is no longer available

And here’s a view of the collection when selecting only games from 1990.

The attachment year.jpg is no longer available

As you can see, the selected game has the cover art for *Another World* (a 1991 game), but it’s actually *LOOM*.

I'll keep testing this latest version for Linux, but honestly, aside from these minor issues, it works really well! I hope it becomes an official version of DFendX soon so everyone can enjoy it!

Hi, I have a build I think fixes both those issues.
- for the mouse scroll, there is a new Mouse sensitivity option in Program settings\General, try setting it down to the lowest value and see if it scrolls better after that.
- for the icon mixup, the Linux port needed an extra list refresh after switching categories. I was able to reproduce the issue, and the fix works.

Hi! Just checking in! First of all, thanks for this new build—the bugs I mentioned have been fixed! (The mouse issue was even fixed without having to change any settings for the new option you mentioned.)
I don't think there are any major bugs left, but I can point out a few minor ones that aren't very important.

1) When I have a background image selected for the game list, and I add a new game to my collection, then add a game cover image to that game’s capture folder, and select that image to display as the cover, it loads the cover but the background image disappears until I reload DFendX. (By the way, when I copy the cover image into the game’s images folder, it doesn’t appear in the screenshots section until I click on another profile and then return to this one; it would be nice if it refreshed automatically.)

2) I use a monitor with the standard resolution of 1920x1080. When I edit a profile or go to the program’s options, the text and menus in general are a bit small. Making them a little bigger would be a nice quality-of-life improvement.

Everything else I’ve tried so far works normally.
A question I’ve been asked by users of other frontends: When do you think the Linux version will be officially released?
Thank you very much in advance for your work! Keep it up!

Hi, thanks for confirmed those two bugs are fixed.

The disappearing background bug sounds strange. I will try and reproduce it, and if so I will include a fix in the next release.

Text size is a difficult areas, as DFendX has a fixed layout, and increasing text size would overlap many areas in that fixed layout. Does the text size look small compared to other programs?

Cheers

Actually, the smallest fonts are those in the menu bar and the program's option menus.

The attachment small fonts.jpg is no longer available

This is because the font size for everything else can be changed in the UI options.

Here you can see a direct comparison with the menus from the original Plasma Breeze theme (both use the Qt toolkit).

The attachment comp.jpg is no longer available

If the font could be enlarged by 2 or 3 points, that would be great.

OK I will see if there is a app global Qt font size setting I can adjust.

Also, for this you can refresh the screenshot tabs by right clicking on some empty space then clicking Update (or hitting F5 on keyboard). There is no directory watcher so it can't automatically know when a file has been copied into that directory.
