So turns out some synths have patches that have proven equivalents that are missing from their fake cross standard mode.

These instruments could be added with a firmware update.

I have made a nice and complete list of equivalencies between sound canvas and mu series, some of which were introduced to sc8850 by adding GM2 support.

Anyone up for making firmware updates for devices should b able to make use of this data.

Anyone interested in this? even the lowly mu-50 can be updated to support name of these instruments in tg300b mode, because it already has them.

I recently tried adding an XG compatibility mode for the SC-8820 P256 plugin, similar to what the SC-88 Pro has by default. While the project won't touch ROM data, some more accurate instrument mapping without guessing based on comparing recording could prove helpful.
