Is this an issue with DOSBox? Carmageddon DOS won't run in high-res, no matter what I do. I always get a "Bad command or filename" and then it goes to the low-res mode.
Reinstall the game within dosbox.
Uhh hmm I'm not the person that posted the topic, but I've installed Carmageddon (1) through DOSBOX and it worked! However... it runs extremely choppy... is there a way to fix that? (Sorry for asking a question that has probably been asked 100 times)

Nope unless you're using an old dosbox version, a non-x86 system or
screwed up something otherwise. carmageddon is simply a very demanding
game as is.
-Unless-...? So 🤣 it CAN be run faster or?.. What steps would I have to do to have it run smoothly? I'd be willing to try anything.. my CD seems to work flawlessly. Isn't DOSBox supposed to emulate the old DOS system? I mean... I remember playing this game back in the day on a 512mb RAM, Pentium 2 CPU and it ran perfectly then 🙁 hmm I guess bit torrenting TDR2000 is my best option these days... but there's just nothing like the original.... you know? That's why I came here... or rather, to DOSBox. I've tried a couple methods listed but they don't seem to work so I was just wondering if there's some known way to increase the fps from 1 to something more..?

If you're using dosbox 0.65 it WILL run faster on 0.72.
uhh.. sorry you just confused me it will run faster on 0.65 or 0.72? I'm running it through 0.72 and it's like 1 fps... (well I'm not really running it because it's 1 fps >.< 🤣... it's not fun at all)

Get a faster processor.
Don't download games off the internet that aren't free.

I believe what you were going for is "don't pirate software", since Steam-released games are downloaded off the Internet and certainly aren't free 😉
