I have problems getting VDMSound to work with "Realms Of The Haunting", I've installed both and I have tried running it both manually and automatically, nothing works. The game starts but no sound at all!

I'm running Windows 2000 Professional.

My specs are as follows:

AMD Athlon XP2200+
512 MB RAM.
Creative Audigy Soundcard.
Geforce 4 TI 4600 graphics card.
DVD/CD-Rom.

Help please?
😁

I have no idea why you wouldn't be getting audio, except that something might be interfering with VDMSound operation.

Try downloading and testing Ms. Pac-Em from here.

If you run it with VDMSound you should get music at the start of the game, followed by some digital audio effects.

The Pacman game works with sound, but no hope for Realms. Damn it Microsoft! My favorite game and I can't play it!

Just sound effects? Did you get the music at the start of the game? Also, did you try this both with and without VDMSound? XP's native emulation probably won't give you the music, but VDMSound should.

...but no hope for Realms.

Start with the basics. I was able to get audio working both natively, and with VDMSound.

Start with the most basic audio setup. Run it natively in XP, and choose the lowest level SoundBlaster (IRQ 5) just to see if you get any audio at all (bypass the Autodetect). Then try it with VDMSound using the same SoundBlaster (but switch to IRQ7)...

Don't forget that XP's native emulation uses IRQ 5, whereas VDMSound wants IRQ 7.
