GUS PnP, where is it?!?

Hello,

I own a GUS PnP and I have some trouble getting it set up.

It seems to have some problem getting detected right as PnP card.
With the PnP tools that come with the card I can read the EEPROM with pnpmap.exe and it seems correct. I can also use pnpmap to write the given oldgrav.rom for the older B stepping boards (as my GUS PnP has one).

On the other side, running IWINIT detects an audio card but reads 0xFF for all ressources (so IRQ = 15, DMA = 7 a.s.o.) and fails to find an Interwave card.
The card doesn't show up in the ISA-PnP list after the BIOS and also Windows 98SE sees nothing.
(I even wonder if the ISA PnP functionality of the card is somehow faked by Gravis)

Some days ago the card was found by IWINIT and worked properly. Thats why I think the card works still properly if it had its ressources.

Someone knows how to clean up this somehow non-working PnP stuff?
I really don't care about PnP, I know what resources I would like to have for each component of the card.
So how can I make not only the cards EEPROM visible to the system, but the card itself too?

Have you ran the PnP config util that comes with the 2nd install disk (I think) to see that the all is well?

Do you mean the app that shows Synth, SB Emulation, MPU-401 Midi, CD ROM, Gameport in a blue textmode windows and you can enable / disable the component there?
Yes I have run that and in the end it seems to write it to the EEPROM too. Though this doesn't seem to have an effect.
As I said the EEPROM seems to be fine, I can read it with pnpmap.exe too into a file.

Though most other Apps say, they can't see a GUS PnP. (Also the IW-EPROM tools from Kay Bruns f.e.)

Yep

Try it in another motherboard.

I've run into troubles too with the Gus PnP and Gus Max (rev 1.😎 that it's not "seen" by the system or locks up the system when the init is run

I have already switched the mainboard from a MVP3 chipset to a AMD750 Irongate board, as a very late ISA board.

The only thing I noticed when the card was running, was that in Cubic Player there is crackle when the IW is chosen first. If I choose first GUS and later IW as output then IW also plays fine. But I think this is some sort of bug in Cubic Player since other software played correct from start.

Is there some tool that ignores PnP and just sets the cards ressources?

Something is curious too: The ISA PnP Read port is 0x20b, IWINIT says it reads from 0x3be but also finds an audio card there.

I had trouble with a gus pnp in an irongate board, getting the resources it needed. The drivers also didn't seem to set up properly in 98. The pnp was a 1.0 rev.

Now I have it in a BX board under 95 and everything is fine.

I get similar problems with my GUS PnP on my Aladdin V board when I activate "Delayed Transaction" in the BIOS setup.
Without it, everything works fine.
