Greetings!

Well, it seems I am having problems getting Earthsiege to run. This is a dos based game on CD, that I'd just love to play agan for a bit. The problem is it uses .bat files for installation - and WinXP doesn't work them right. So I booted using Win98 boot disk, and installed it that way. Now the problem is the .bat file to launch it won't work with the latest version of VDMSound - not because of anything VSMSound related - but because WinXP doesn't do batch files correctly. Has anyone been able to play Earthsiege on a WinXP box? And if so how did you do it? I am running WinXP Pro, 2.04 or so VDMSound w/ update, w/ a SB sound card, Lynx EM+ integrated video on this laptop, and some other things. It seems to be a WinXP related issue with .bat files so we'll see if I can't clear that up before tacking some other things. As always, thanks in advance for any help you can give me 😀

How exactly does NTVDM not run batch files "correctly"? Upload the file please.

Yes, it’s my fault.

Well, basically the batch files commands for changing directories and for executing the files do not work correctly in an NT environment. When booted into DOS, they work fine, but in NT, 2k, and XP they do not run correctly. Since both the install and the run files are .bat, I can boot with a win98 bootdisk and install it, but then it doesn't launch correctly in WinXP for the actual playing of the game 🙁 How exactly did you want me to upload the Earthsiege CD?
