Hi ,

I have been reading much on the setup of dosbox for imperium galactica 1, this is because I didnt get into the game way back and now I am enjoying it, well actually IG2 but since I have discovered how good that is I want to get IG1 working smoothly.

I have a respectable dual core system, my cpu cycles are at auto but I have tried doing ctrl f11 and f12 and that only made things worse, auto seems best. Anyway the sound occasionally stutters, Im using dosbox 0.7.3 and have tried IG1 with and without the patch but same sound issues in the cut scenes and maybe other places its just I am using the intro.exe as a test to try and smooth sound, I have messed with some settings that may have not helped but I was wandering if anyone who has got ig1 working with no sound issue could compare their dosbox config to my own and tell me where I am going wrong, I tried messing with the sound buffer thing and sampling rates as well.

I do have the original discs btw, I also hope I have posted this in the correct place 😀 anyway thanks for reading, maybe I am asking to much with such an old game but it would be nice to get that sound issue soted out as the game looks fun and it slightly ruins immersion.

I just was experimenting since I still had the sound issues on auto, I will change it back I guess, so considering I still got the issues on auto, what do you think I should change to sort the sound?

since this game was released in 1997 it may work in xp's dos mode if your using xp

Yeah sorrry I should have mentioned my OS but didnt think it would have much relevance since its dosbox which emulates but maybe not so anyway its Vista I am using 😀 and running IG1 via vista, dont get me wrong the game works fine , no errors I just cant get rid of the odd sound stutter, so out of curiosity do you folks that are playing it get no sound stutters at all?

Im thinking less and less play it so I guess I will be lucky but still figured this would be about the only place to ask to get rid of the sound issues. (To clarify I do get sound also, just intermittant stutters maybe once every 3 to 15 secs

sorry I mean Im running vista as my OS, dosbox on vista , IG 1 in dosbox just so there is no ambiguity hehe

roberto I did have it at dynamic and I did have the rate at 22050 initial however , I always try what people suggest 😀 plus even though I messed with the cycles I dont think I went as high as 10 thousand

Anyway suffice to say I have just run 3 tests, mucch better, I only had one interruption, well 2 but I upped them to 14000, the cycles I mean, but tbh its much better, unless you can think of anything else Im quite happy.

Actually as I am writing I am running cut scenes and I can see why you suggested 20/20 for up down increments on cycles, its just Ive now moved cycles to 11999 via ctrl F11 and 12 and I am for the first time noticing in game quality changes (For the better since the increment is better)
