Hi,
I just installed DosBox 0.73 on a 2 GHz, 500 MB RAM, Windows XP/sp3 computer, and tried to run Windows 3.10 from a folder containing an old installation of Win3.10 as copied from the hard disk. All the DOS programs there worked fine, fully functional, but when I tried to run Win3.10 and programs and games that require Win3.10, they all work with the exception of the mouse - I just couldn't make this mouse work under Windows 3.10. It didn't want to lock, and when I locked it with <Ctrl>F10, it just dissappeared. I followed the Win3.10 setup suggestions and it starts OK from the Win.bat file, without any error messages about missing swap file or missing C: drive, etc., but the mouse just doesn't want to work at all. It works fine under DOS, but not when I start Windows 3.10. I couldn't find the answer in the FAQ section, that's why I had to write this message asking for help. Do I need to install Win3.10 from DosBox? - actually, I don't have the installation package of Win3.10, and would appreciate any suggestions about where to find it from, if I really need it.

Thanks a lot,
Nick

This isn't a DOSBox issue.

Well if it's a copy of WIndows 3.1 copied from a real PC then it's likely that the mouse drivers differ.

The mouse works with a clean install of Windows 3.1 in DOSBox so 2 options:

1. Play around with Windows 3.1 setup.exe to configure the mouse.
or

1. Install a clean install of Windows 3.1 in DOSBox
2. Compare the Windows 3.1 config file to your old Windows 3.1 config file. (I think it's system.ini)

It's possible whatever mouse drivers were installed on the old machine overwrite the Windows mouse drivers with their own.
