Hello!
I'm new on this forum, and kinda new to dosbox also, but i've read alot about it and played around a little with the .conf.

I've learned alot about Dosbox during this time, and all for one goal: getting rayman to work as good as on a windows 98 pc, and i'm getting closer and closer.. However there seems to be a problem (as many i've had before) 😕

Okay, so firstly i tried to download the rayman patch for windows xp. It worked well, with one exception: the sound seems to be a little delayed, and there is no way to fix this, unless you're the author of the patch (which is dosbox based). You cant configure the .conf file to provide lower blockvalues etc.

So i've also tried making my own dosbox settings, specifically for rayman. Now I get the sounds working perfectly, and even the animation videos etc are better, due to the choice of pentium_slow under [cpu]: core. which seems to almost be designed for rayman 😁
Anyway, now a new problem occurs, which isnt featured in the patch: When I play Rayman, and the camera have to move, cuz i move, there is always a horizontal "line" over the screen that's a little bit behind the camera movement. This line also moves downwards at all times..

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but i really hope so, cuz i really cant find an answear to how to fix this.
It's not a critical problem of any sort, you can play the game, but always be annoyed by that thin line..

As i've inderectly stated before: I've tried messing around with the .conf file, and i've done that for MANY hours..

Thanks in advance for any helpfull answers on how to fix this 😁

Oh and btw.. i'm using Dosbox 0.73

I also tested Superfrog with dosbox, and i still have the same problem, so it's not rayman. ^^

are you running vista/windows 7 ? ? If so try killing explorer.exe before starting dosbox.

Also make sure that the output is actually being used in dosbox.
To check this:
output=ddraw in the configuration file
Start dosbox and type
output
It should tell you ddraw

edit: Added windows 7. Doesn't really apply to vista, but shouldn't hurt

I'm running windows XP.
I tested the output, and it's working correctly: it tells me opengl, when i have set output as opengl, and draw when set to ddraw (in the .conf) The problem remains.

well check for background programs. I would guess the palette messes up although I never heard it happening for output modes.

Check for stuff in the taskbar. especially DVD detect play programs and such. A background application changing the palette is the only thing I can think off.
