Good day 😀

I am currently trying to make Full Throttle work on my Windows XP computer (AMD XP 2100+, 768 MB RAM, GF3 ti500, SBLive! 5.1 Di, 240 GB drive), and has gotten the sound and graphics to work perfectly aided by VDMSound.

I thought I was set ... however, there's a problem, since the game freezes almost immedeately. This occurs both in ScummVM and if I run the game with VDMS, just before the first fighting sequence ("When I'm on the road, I am indestructible. Nothing can stop me. But they try ..."). Just as the other biker reaches Ben, and the scene is supposed to switch, the game freezes, and the MIDI fades out.

Instead of freezing in ScummVM, the game throws me into the console. The error message given by ScummVM looks like this:

Any ideas on how to work around this?

First of all, last I checked SCUMMVM doesn't support the fighting engine in Full Throttle. But since you said the original DOS version crashes too, then I'd guess that it's having trouble reading the CD. Is there any dirt or scratches on it? Are there any holes in the top layer? (try holding it up to a light with the top facing away from you and see if you can see any small spots where the light comes through). If so then you may need to clean your CD or it may be ruined.

If it looks good then try running with no sound (just as a test) or try making an image of the CD and mounting it as a virtual CD with Alcohol 120%, Daemon Tools, or Fantom CD.

Hot damn ... might appear the CD is corrupt.

Gotta download an ISO, then.

I'll report on progress. Maybe we have a new, interesting bug with WinXP SP 1 and certain hardware configurations 😀

Or maybe not ...
