Hi,
I am only a newbie, so please be nice with your replies.

I have stonekeep and installed Dosbox 0.73. Initially I had no problems playing it, but then dosbox wouldn't recognise the command to play. After some help from another website, I unistalled the game and dosbox and started again. The first time I tried playing it, it worked, but then it wouldn't again. I am finding that I have to keep re-installing both the game and dosbox to keep playing it.

While playing it yesterday, I closed the game and all the icons and programs on my desktop are enlarged. It's like the screen has zoomed in. I can't work out how to make it go back.

Also when I open dosbox, it sits there forever trying to load the game.

I'm not sure what is wrong, or what I need to do to fix this.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

[MOVED]

Did you installed it inside DOSBox?

What mounting commands do you use?

Intel i7 5960X
Gigabye GA-X99-Gaming 5
8 GB DDR4 (2100)
8 GB GeForce GTX 1070 G1 Gaming (Gigabyte)

Yes it is installed through Dosbox. Mounting commands are

mount c c:\ oldgames
mount d d:\ -t cdrom

Then in Dosbox, all I should have to do is enter C: cd stonkeep\sk

When I reinstall everything, it runs fine. It just stops loading the game sometimes.

There is a wrong blank space in the first mounting. It should be:

mount c c:\oldgames

Is that a typo on your part?

Can you give more detail regarding your statement "It just stops loading the game sometimes."?

ok what I mean is that I type cd stonkeep and then sk and the dosbox screen just sits there and looks like it's not loading the game. It can sit there for anything up to a few hours and the game doesn't start, so I unistall dosbox and the game, and reinstall both and then the game will start playing ok.

I have the stonekeep cd that I install it from. I install it into dosbox. I followed the instructions on a website called dosgames.

Was the CD mounted in DOSBox on the occasions that the game failed to start properly?

My guess is the game runs right after you install it because you still have the CD mounted, then later it doesn't run because you forgot to mount the CD in DOSBox before attempting to launch the game.

in the instructions it said to go to dosbox configuration and enter the following lines, so that you don't need to mount it each time you play it.

mount c c:\oldgames
mount d d:\ -t cdrom

then when you open dosbox all you should need to do is change the drive to C: and type cd stonkeep and then sk

When it's not mounted properly it says it has to run from a cd

The other thing it has started doing is dosbox closes as I'm playing the game. I have no indication it is going to happen, it just closes, so I end up loosing what I have done since my last save (which sucks when I have just beaten a baddie)

I have already downloaded the patch.

I have tried asking for help at the dosgames forum, but all I get is narky replies from a moderator telling me I've installed it wrong, and if I follow his instructions it works properly every time.

Every time I have installed dosbox and the game, I have followed his instructions word for word.

Thank you anyway, I guess I'm just not meant to play this game.
