Hi. I'm having an issue running Duke Nukem 3D in DosBox on Windows 7. I verified it's ok in Windows Vista, but in 7, the game starts to load, and then just abruptly closes, no errors. I asked someone else to test in Windows 7, they get the same problem, but not in Vista.

Has anyone gotten it to work in Windows 7? If so, can you send your config?

Ok, something very Bizzare. If I copied the dosbox files into a different directory, it works ok then. It's like the directory they were in was messed up somehow. But, I don't get it. It was saying it couldn't read my config, that's why the game wasn't loading. It was like locked down somehow. But, in another folder, exact same files, works ok. I checked the folder permissions and they are exactly the same for both folders...

If using you're DOSBox/Game files are stored outside of your profile or not in a directory that you created then if you do not specifically add you're user account to the permissions or run DOSBox as administrator then the DOSBox will only run with standard user rights which means just Read access.

So:

Always store you're games in you're profile or a directory with your user account specified in permissions

I found this and use it myself. Its a high resolution pack for duke nukem but its also a windows installer, once I installed it I ran it with no problems at all myself. Was kind of cool to add in graphic resolutions fay beyond the original game and worked like a charm for me.
