Everything runs fine, except the sound effects and speech speed up randomly and go back to normal, same in tie fighter.

Ok, first things, first. Please follow the posting guidelines as displayed at the top of each forum (appears as Important: Follow These Guidelines When Submitting Help Requests ). Most important are your system specifications: things like your processor, video card, sound card, etc... Without this data, we have to resort to playing "20 Questions" with you and it wastes a lot of time. We can always resort to wild guessing, but that is even less useful.
Also, you should try the Quick Search function at the top of the page. Just type in the keywords (like the game title) and it will pull up the previous message threads about that topic.
Having said all that, I'm not sure if anyone has the DOS version of XWing running properly. Some earlier posts on this:

I believe there's been some success in using the Windows 95 version. Of course, from what I've heard, many fans hate that version. I don't think I have either of them.
There's a new compatibility report for the DOS Tie fighter on the DOS compatibility database page. The Xwing engine is very similar to Tie fighter so maybe that shed some light.

Very interesting. tieguy certainly went in-depth on that one. Wish more people had such useful info.
